Solar Thermal

Solar water heating has been in use for centuries but advances in technology are bringing more reliable, cost effective solutions to the market.  Solar hot water is a great way for home owners and businesses to help the environment while saving money.  Solar water heating can be sized to meet the demands of a single house, a restaurant, a hotel or even a hospital.  Typically installed with a backup heating device, you are never without hot water even on the cloudiest winter days. Most systems will produce hot water for 20 years or more with minimal service required. The solar panels used for heating water are much more efficient than panels used for producing electricity so you only need 4-5 hours of sunshine a day on your panels to produce enough hot water for your daily requirements.

ONE SOLAR HOT WATER HEATER will save 80% off water heating bills for a home or business in Georgia and can eliminate over 50 tons of greenhouse gas during its 20 year life span.

From a cost perspective, solar water heating is relatively inexpensive and offers payback periods as fast as 3 years for businesses.  In Georgia today, the payback period for a residential application is typically 5-6 years depending on usage.  Better yet, when you sell your house you will receive back most if not all of your initial investment in the system assuming it is in good working order.

Over the long term SOLAR WATER HEATING is the LEAST EXPENSIVE OPTION.  If included in a mortgage or home equity loan, solar thermal systems can be cash flow positive day 1 - meaning your immediate savings on water heating bills may be greater than your payment for the system!

Solar water heaters can be installed in new construction or retro-fitted into existing structures.  If it's time to change your water heater, it's the right time to think about solar!  Call us today for a consultation.

Backup Heating Devices

Nearly all solar thermal systems include a backup heating device.  This way you will never be without hot water, even if you experience very high use at night.  Backup heating devices can include electric heating elements in the main water heater (just like traditional electric hot water heaters) or tankless hot water heaters, which is the preferred method for more and more home owners.
